COVID-19 response

In this moment, we are using this time to build and look forward to when we can be in rooms dancing together.

We are saddened that we were unable to present our work in progress of Carnival Odyssey at Imaginate’s Edinburgh International Children’s Festival in May 2020. You can find out more about this new children’s work as it is being developed here.

As a small organisation which is delivered on a project-by-project basis, we are using this time to become more sustainable so that we can continue to deliver our work with the dance sector, communities and artists. You can support the work we’re doing here.

We know that COVID-19 has had the greatest impact on Black and People of Colour across the UK. Prior to the pandemic we were working to readdress the representation on our stages and behind the scenes, to support our communities and artists who are Black and People of Colour with heritage from the African and Caribbean diaspora. We are not waiting for things to go back to ‘normal’, as that ‘normal’ wasn’t working. And now, whilst ensuring that the health, safety and mental wellbeing of those we work with is paramount, we will continue to reimagine and reconstruct a better and more inclusive sector, celebrating the history and contemporary cultures which intertwine in the myriad of dance forms and styles.

In strength & solidarity,

Ashanti, Mele, Rhea xxx
