Dance Workshops for Young People

Project X delivered engaging and educational dance workshops for children and young people, suitable for all levels. We worked with local dance teachers as well as special guest classes from international dance artists, we taught young people a multitude of diasporic dance techniques, sharing historical knowledge alongside its contemporary impact. The Project X dance classes for children and young people encouraged creativity, confidence and a sense of pride.

Past workshops for children and young people have included: Ghosts Dimensions Dancing with our Shadows class with Mele Broomes and Ashanti Harris, South African Gumboot Dancing with Morgan Njobo, Chronicles movement workshops led by Thulani Rachia and Claricia Parinussa, Afrobeat Dance class with Joy Maria Onotu, Contemporary Movement and Hip Hop with William Freeman, Dancehall Hip Hop Mash Up with Divine Tasinda, Contemporary West African Dance with Erick Mauricia Valentin.

Project X also delivered Summer Schools, Easter Schools, and weekly dance programmes which often work towards a community production.
