ROSINA BONSU BURSARY 2023-2024
Deadline: Sunday 22nd October
WITH THE WORK ROOM AND PROJECT X
ABOUT
In honour of Rosina Bonsu and her incredible influence on Scotland’s dance scene, Project X and The Work Room would like to support a choreographer/dance artist from the African/Caribbean diaspora with the Rosina Bonsu Bursary. The funding for this bursary has come from a legacy donation from Dance House Glasgow and a gift from the Bonsu family in honour of Rosina.
Rosina was an inspiring dance artist, choreographer and educator who generously nurtured and encouraged dance artists of all ages throughout her career. You can read a tribute to her written by the Work Room here.
The bursary will provide a choreographer/ dance artist at a critical stage of their career with paid time & financial support, enabling them to refresh and develop their practice and instigate their own creative project, in collaboration with Project X and The Work Room.
The details:
An artist fee of £6000
A project budget of £1500 towards the costs of delivering your own creative project
A professional development budget of £500 to access additional training and development opportunities.
Alongside the financial support, you will have access to the teams from Project X and The Work Room, bringing their experience in producing to support in developing your project, and their networks and connections within dance and the performing arts.
We are interested in hearing from dance artists who create work across different contexts; this can include community & socially engaged projects, in digital or screen or for performance on stage or in public spaces. There can be an opportunity to share with an audience as part of Project X Choreographic Platform at Tramway in April 2024, if this is relevant to your project idea - but this is not a requirement of the bursary.
Dates:
We anticipate the bursary running from November 2023 - April 2024 and covering between 30 - 40 days of the artists’ time during this period.
Performance platform (if appropriate) : Friday 5th April (evening) and Saturday 6th April (matinee) with technical rehearsals 2nd-4th April 2024.
You can download the application form, and the full information document with details on eligibility and criteria.
